BACK SOON FOR A FINAL SERIES

LOVE IS IN THE AIR AS WILLIAM MEETS KATE

The Crown’s take on two of William and Kate’s classic looks from their university 24 days (right and far right) during filming in Scotland

Walking hand in hand through the streets of St Andrews in Fife, Prince William and Kate Middleton begin their epic love story as The Crown retells one of the greatest royal romances of the 21st century.

Viewers are introduced to Kate in the sixth and final season of Netflix’s hit series, which returns next month and follows the blossoming relationship between the now Prince and Princess of Wales.

In photos of scenes that were filmed around the university town, where William and Kate – both now 41 – met and fell in love, actors Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy bear an uncanny resemblance to the young couple.

One shot shows the Prince sitting on the steps of a lecture hall, glancing at his future wife as she walks past him, while later scenes depict them strolling through the rain with shopping bags before William kisses Kate’s forehead.

FRIENDS FIRST

The couple met and became friends while they were both living in the same hall of residence and studying history of art, which the Prince dropped to take up geography.

They shared a flat together in the second year of their studies and romance later blossomed, although they briefly split in 2007.

“That was a good sort of foundation,” he added. “I do genuinely believe now that being friends with [each other] is a massive advantage.”

The relationship will also introduce two new faces to viewers – both Meg, 20, and Ed, 22, who takes over the role of William from Rufus Kampa, will be making their screen debuts after each landing their roles in open auditions.

Meg, who grew up in Berkshire, like the Princess, and reportedly gained an A* in A-level drama at school in Wokingham, was entertaining visitors at Legoland in Windsor when her self-taped audition impressed The Crown’s casting directors. “Pinch me, please,” she said last year, after the new roles were announced. “It is such an honour to be joining the most incredible cast and crew and I
