STAR FRIENDS PROVIDE THE PERFECT MIXER

Rock star Sir Rod Stewart was joined by his wife Lady Stewart – aka Penny Lancaster – and famous friends to paint the town red at the launch of his new release – a cheeky little number named Wolfie’s Whisky, blended on the banks of Loch Lomond.

The singer was on great form alongside the ever-glamorous Penny at the red-themed private bash at London’s The Ned hotel.

And as the guests – including comedian Rob Brydon, former swimmer Mark Foster, dancer Ian Waite and Made in Chelsea’s Fredrik Ferrier – partied, hello! exclusively caught up with Sir Rod and Penny.

“I’ve never done anything like this and am enjoying every minute,” said Sir Rod. “The reason I became so involved is its connection to Scotland. I’m a cockney Scotsman – born in North London but my dad was Scottish and I love Scotland.

“Whisky was never my favourite tipple after getting drunk on it when I was 15,” he grinned. “But this one doesn’t knock you sideways. It takes me back to the carefree behaviour of my more mischievous days and the excitement of what life still has to offer. Let the good times roll!”

Still bursting with energy at 78, Sir Rod thrilled partygoers by leaping up to belt out Rock Me All Night Long with soul singer Acantha Lang. “Not bad for a boy from Highgate,” he told us with a smile.

The Wolfie’s bottle, which features a winking wolf, “fits so well with his image”, said Penny. “And the flavours remind him of his favourite dessert – an apple cinnamon pie.”

“This is like a family, not just a business,” said Sir Rod, who collaborated with close friends Duncan and Lauren Frew from Loch Lomond Distillery.
