Broken foot ends Strictly dance return hopes
Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has broken her foot merely days after finishing chemotherapy for cancer, ruling her out of making a guest appearance in the ballroom this series.
“Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo,” the 33-year-old dancer told fans on social media.
“Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot. Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible. This is what has kept me going the past few months. 2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!”
Amy was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in May and underwent a mastectomy.

Jill Scott leads inductions into WSL Hall of Fame
Former England footballers Jill Scott, Ellen White (both left) and Anita Asante have been inducted into the Women’s Super League (WSL) Hall of Fame in recognition of their achievements on the pitch.
The three Lionesses were honoured in a ceremony at the National Football Museum in Manchester.
Jill, 36, who won last year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, said: “Playing in the WSL since it formed until a couple of years ago, they’re simply the best memories ever. To be inducted to the Hall of Fame won’t sink in for a while.
“When you retire you lose a lot of identity, as your whole purpose was to be a footballer. So to be remembered in this way is such an honour – this one will go on the mantelpiece.”

Engagement joy for former Gogglebox star
Scarlett Moffatt has got engaged to her boyfriend Scott Dobinson after four years together.
Her happy news comes five months after the couple welcomed their first child, a son called Jude, who played a part in the proposal.
In a post on social media, together with several images from the moment, the 33-year-old former Gogglebox star wrote: “Mondays are my new favourite day. Walked in to find my soulmate on one knee, with baby Jude wearing the cutest outfit asking the question ‘Mammy will you marry Daddy.’
“The most perfect proposal in my favourite place, our home. I truly am on cloud nine, feel so lucky, it feels incredible being able to share this with you all, I always wished for this.”
