Christmas may be a time for rest and relaxation, but for Sir Andy Murray, it means that preparations for the Australian Open in January are not far from his mind. However, this makes the festive period all the more special for the tennis star and his wife Lady Murray – Kim – who will be on our TV screens this Christmas.

In this exclusive interview with HELLO!, 36-year-old Andy tells us: “I love all the tradition of Christmas and spending time with my family.”

Kim, also 36, says: “I absolutely love Christmas and we usually go pretty big. Andy normally heads off to Australia straight after Christmas Day, so that makes it even more special for us all to spend time together.”

And it will be a big family celebration for the couple, who have been married since 2015 and share four children: Sophia, seven, Edie, six, Teddy, four, and two-yearold Lola.

“Scotland at Christmas is a pretty festive place to be,” says Olympic gold medal winner Andy. “We often get snow, and there’s nothing better than coming in to a roaring fire if you’ve been out walking the dogs.”

SCOTTISH SPECIAL

Now, the pair have opened the doors to Cromlix, their luxury five-star hotel in the Scottish countryside near Dunblane, for a BBC Christmas special with the queen of baking, Dame Mary Berry.

The former The Great British Bake Off judge joined two-time Wimbledon champion Andy and his grandmother Shirley Erskine for a masterclass in cooking kedgeree – and it seems that the trio had a ball.

Asked about filming with Mary and how he added his own personal touch, Andy says: “I was up at Cromlix at the end of November filming the Christmas special, just as the decorations had started to go up.

“I’m normally not allowed to touch them, but I did try to sneak a tennis ball on to the tree, to see if anyone noticed.”

The 15-room establishment, which the couple bought ten years ago, holds a special place in the Murrays’ hearts – it was the venue for their wedding reception in 2015, five years after Andy’s brother Jamie held his nuptials in the on-site chapel.
