The King has recognised a number of leading UK figures in his 2024 New Year Honours List, rewarding some famous names – as well as hundreds of ordinary people – for services to fields including entertainment, charity and sport.

Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke received an MBE, alongside her mother Jenny, for their work establishing brain-injury charity SameYou. Emilia, 37, who suffered two brain haemorrhages in her 20s, wrote on Instagram: “Still so flabbergasted and amazed… this MBE is for everyone who has and still is suffering from a brain injury.”
