The tutu worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the opening credits of Sex and the City is up for sale. The frothy white belted tulle skirt, sported by her character Carrie Bradshaw in the TV series, is due to go under the hammer at Julien’s Auctions in California on Thursday.

The tiered skirt, which costume designer Patriciaa Field discovered in a $5 bin in a fashion showroom in Midtown Manhattan, is expected to fetch between $8,000 (approx. £6,200) and $12,000.

Other pieces in the auction include a Catherine Walker black velvet cocktail dress worn by Diana, Princess of Wales and an apple-green Givenchy number donned by Grace Kelly, as well as items worn by Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Cher, Whitney Houston and Lady Gaga.

Singer James Morrison has reportedly cancelled all work commitments following the sudden death of his partner Gill Catchpole at the age of 45.

The soul singer, 39, found her body last week in her home in Gloucestershire, an inquest heard. The coronerr heard the death was “nonsuspicious” and the hearing was adjourned.
