Four stars of the hit US legal drama Suits were reunited at the Golden Globe Awards, drawing applause from the Hollywood A-list as they took to the stage to present the gong for Best TV Series, which went to gripping media dynasty comedy-drama Succession. But as actors Patrick J Adams, Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres – who played, respectively, unlicensed lawyer Mike Ross, smooth operator Harvey Specter, glamorous assistant Donna Paulsen and boss Jessica Pearson – were cheered on, there was one important character missing: paralegal Rachel Zane, who was portrayed by Meghan Markle – now the Duchess of Sussex – between 2011 and 2018.

When asked by an interviewer if any of the stars had texted Meghan to ask if she was planning to attend, Gina smiled and replied: “We don’t have her number. We just don’t, so she’ll see. She’ll watch. She’ll be happy that we’re here.”

It is thought that Meghan has stayed in touch with her former co-stars since marrying Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in May 2018. The wedding was attended by all four of the Suits stars who turned out at this year’s Golden Globes, as well as Rick Hoffman, who played partner Louis Litt, and Patrick J Adams’s off-screen wife Troian Bellisario, who portrayed Mike’s early love interest Claire Bowden.

Meghan confirmed her departure after season seven, following lo news of her engagement to Harry.
