Strolling along a palm treelined avenue, casually carrying a surfboard under each arm, Hollywood action man Chris Hemsworth looks every inch a poster boy for healthy living.

His Spanish wife Elsa Pataky and their children, nine-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan and daughter India, 11, completed the picture as the family made their way back from a surfing session in Byron Bay, Australia.

Wearing their swimmers and walking barefoot, the film-star parents were spotted chatting and smiling with their boys as they headed home to their £10m compound in Broken Head.

The couple, who have been married for 13 years, relocated from Los Angeles to the balmy sun-kissed seaside town in New South Wales nine years ago in search of a more low-key life. “When you’re suffocated by the work, every conversation that you’re having and every billboard you’re seeing is to do with a movie or whatever around the industry, you lose perspective,” Australianborn Chris, 40, later explained.

Of their life Down Under, he said: “There’s not a single person that I interact with, or close friends of mine, that are in the industry and so that’s hugely refreshing. It’s great for my kids and my wife.”
