It was a perfect combination of art, fashion and beauty last week when the National Portrait Gallery held its annual fundraising event.

A host of celebrities and public figures descended on the revamped gallery in central London – reopened by the Princess of Wales last year, after a £41m, three-year renovation – where they were treated to champagne and canapes, as well as sneak previews of the gallery’s spring exhibitions.

Among those bringing style and glamour to the evening was Love Island host Maya Jama, who wore a satin checked dress by Vivienne Westwood that she paired with pearls and red strappy heels.

GOLD STANDARD

Later in the evening, she posed for photos with the Marchioness of Bath: a golden goddess in a shimmering strapless two-piece.

Alexa Chung arrived draped in an intriguing asymmetric red and black dress, on the arm of her partner, The Sandman star Tom Sturridge.
