Six-time Olympic medallist Max Whitlock is retiring from professional gymnastics following the Paris 2024 Games this summer.

Britain’s most successful gymnast, 31, with three Olympic golds to his name, said it was the right time to step down and he is “excited and motivated” to be trying for his fourth and final games.

“I feel extremely fortunate to have found such a huge passion and something I have loved for so long,” he added.

“Post-Tokyo Olympics, I almost allowed fear of failure to dictate my path and stop gymnastics altogether. This final chapter of my competing career has me excited for the opportunity to try and create further history.”

Rumi Carter, the six-year-old daughter of Beyoncé (left) and Jay Z, has broken the record for the youngest female artist in history to make the Billboard Hot 100 Chart after appearing on her mother’s new album, the country-inspired Cowboy Carter.

Rumi, who has a twin brother Sir, features on the track Protector, which has been released as a single and entered the chart at No. 42.

She is featured at the start of the song, a tender acoustic ballad, saying: “Mom, can I hear the lullaby please?”

The record was previously held by her 12-year-old sister Blue Ivy, who appeared on the 2019 song Brown Skin Girl when she was seven years old. It reached No. 76 on the chart.

ISLA AND SACHA

Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen have announced their divorce after 13 years of marriage and more than 20 years together.

In a joint statement, the former couple, who are parents to three children, said: “After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023, we jointly filed to end our marriage.

“We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”

Sacha, 52, and Isla, 48, first met in 2001 at a party in Sydney, Australia, and married in an intimate ceremony in Paris in 2010.

RENEE ZELLWEGER

Renee Zellweger is set to become involved with a much younger boyfriend in the next instalment of Bridget Jones: The White Lotus and One Day star Leo Woodall. The actor, 27, is joining Renee, 54, in the fourth film, Mad About the Boy, to play Bridget’s love interest after the death of her husband Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth), who was killed by a landmine.
