Iconic items from Habitat’s archive are re-imagined for a new era in celebration of the brand’s 60th anniversary

Founded in 1964 by Terence Conran, Habitat has helped revolutionise interior design with its stylish and contemporary furniture and homeware.

And to celebrate its milestone birthday this summer, the brand has unveiled an exclusive collection of 60 design stories inspired by its trendsetting past, present and future.

Titled 60 Years of Design, the range sees classic pieces from the Habitat archive reimagined for modern decor by the in-house design studio, with many items in the bold shade of Habitat 60 Blue.

Habitat has also invited celebrated names from the creative industries – including Sebastian Conran, Felix Conran and Tord Boontje, plus emerging talent including artist and designer Simone Brewster, ceramicist Silvia Kamodyova and furniture-maker Planq – to create limited-edition products.

Highlights from the product range, which features new takes on classics from the 1960s to the early 2000s, include the 1970s Scoop chair, 2004’s sculptural Ribbon light, inspired by origami, and the chicken brick from 1964 – a ceramic oven dish for steam cooking from Habitat’s first year of business, now updated with a matte black glaze.
