“IT’S absolutely dreamy stuff,” said proud father Tim Vaughan, who watched his 16-year-old son Edward Vaughan land a treble. Edward is the young star of the moment and here he cemented his status by riding three winners as well as two runners-up.

Edward’s first winner came with Tim’s own John Mathias-trained Getaway Cory heading the restricted field. By Getaway, the nine-year-old won at Ystradowen on his last outing.

“He was with me early in the season before he transferred to John, who has done a great job with him; he’s really progressing,” said Tim.

The mixed open crown was secured by Tim’s own Sulamani nine-year-old, Siberian Star.

He joined Tim’s yard earlier this year after chasing in Ireland and the team have been waiting for the right ground for him to fly.

“Ed said that he felt like a different horse today; he travelled so much better to win well against some supremely decent pointers,” enthused Tim, whose 10-year-old Tight Call then duly scored the conditions (level three) title in comfortable fashion. The Mahler son had been successful under Rules before an injury put him out of action for 12 months.

“He came back out this season and while his first few runs were disappointing, again due to him not liking the heavy ground, he’s shown us what he can do,” said Tim, of the gelding who was second at Godstone at the beginning of May.

A PROUD FATHER

EDWARD settled for second in the maiden 4&5yo riding Tim’s Feel Like Dancing fiveyear-old, Joyeux Mome, who finished behind the Brennans’ Seymourjohn, a five-year-old by Scorpion who was making his British debut, with Toby McCain-Mitchell in the saddle.

Tim’s seven-year-old Maska Du Morvan was also pushed into second in the eight-strong maiden (NWFAA), being beaten by Carys Morris on board Kayf Tara eight-year-old Trendy Lady for trainer Clare Lloyd Davies and owners The Trendy Lords and Ladies Club. On his son’s success, Tim said: “Edward has had a dream start to his career and I’m immensely proud of him. He’s had 23 winners this season, plus two winners under Rules. He’s driven, hungry and keen, and he gets the job done with minimal fuss. I couldn’t ask for any more of him.”
