Sometimes you need to install multiple apps on a Mac. For example, if you buy a new Mac or a second-hand model, you want to put all your favourite apps on it. If you erase a Mac, perhaps to solve a problem or you want a fresh install of the latest version of macOS, you need to spend time afterwards installing all the apps you need. This can be a long and tedious process: finding the apps you want, downloading them, installing them, and then deleting the download. Fortunately, there is a quick way to install your favourite apps on a Mac. Enter just one command in Terminal and then go and have a break while your apps install.

Installing apps in Terminal may seem like it’s a backward step, but it allows for bulk installs

Step-by-step Install multiple apps on a Mac

1 Browse the apps

Open Safari and go to https://macapps. link/ where you will find apps listed in categories. Not every Mac app is here, but many of the most popular ones are.

2 See more info

If you are not sure what an app is or does, let the mouse hover over the ‘i’ icon in the corner of each tile. A small information window gives a brief description.

3 Select, deselect apps

Click an app to select it for installation and click it again if you change your mind and don’t want it. Continue browsing and select as many apps as you want to install.
