There are many excellent apps for your iPhone but every so often you may buy something that doesn’t live up to your expectations. In some instances, you or someone else may have bought an app by mistake or ended up subscribing to a service that you don’t want. Thankfully help is at hand, with Apple allowing you to request refunds with only a few taps. This service is not restricted to apps and subs; you can get refunds on e-books, music, films and television shows. The refund option extends to in-app purchases, too – so long as they’re not instantly consumable such as coins or credits. Apple will decide if you’re eligible, though. You must also put in your request within 90 days of making a purchase.

Step-by-step

1 Sign in with Apple ID

Launch Safari and visit reportaproblem. apple.com. You will be redirected to sign in to your Apple account using your Apple ID – the one you used to buy apps.

2 View your purchases

Once you’re on the Report A Problem screen, you can scroll down to see your purchases: apps and subscriptions. If you spot the troublesome item, you can request action.

3 Indicate your issue

Tap ‘I would like to’ for a handful of options. As well as being able to report quality issues, a scam, fraud or troublesome content, you can tap ‘Request a refund’.
