CLEVER TRICKS TO MINI DECOR PROJECTS…WE ROUND UP THE SIMPLEST, QUICKEST WAYS TO MAKE YOUR HOME MORE BEAUTIFUL NOW
1 HOW TO PAINT A CEILING CANOPY
Take a statement headboard up a level with a painted panel behind the bed and on the ceiling to create a cocooning feel.
■ Decide on your colour combination. Choosing a paler shade for the main wall and a darker colour for the canopy will add contrast and create a bolder effect.
■ Use a pencil and tape measure to mark out the area to be painted. Extend the line roughly 10-15cm either side of the bed so that the painted area is fully visible.
■ Work out how far you want the canopy to extend onto the ceiling. Try a shallow canopy for ease or cover the length of the bed for added impact.
■ Use decorator’s tape to give a crisp edge for painting. Fill in your panel with paint using a brush or small roller. Once dry, apply a second coat.
2 FIXUP A SET OF SHELVES
While wall units offer plenty of storage, they can crowd the space in a small kitchen, so go for open shelves on one wall instead. Essentials will be easier to access and styled-up with kitchenware, they’ll create a decorative feature too.

3 HANGA CHEERY WALLPAPER TO BRIGHTEN UP YOUR OUTLOOK
A dreary WFH space can zap your energy, so choose a bold pattern or sunny colour to put you in a brighter mood. Oranges and yellows evoke happiness, optimism and energy so are a perfect choice for a creative work space.
4 Follow the 60/30/10 rule – with 60% of your room in a dominant colour, 30% in a secondary shade and 10% an accent colour.

5 GET YOUR UTILITY SPACE SHIP-SHAPE
While sorting the laundry is a chore, getting your utility area better organised will help you speed through the task. Set up an easy sorting system with hooks on the wall and separate bags according to lights, darks, mixed or delicates, so it’s easy for the family to simply throw washing in. Add a shelf up above with caddies and tubs for holding detergents, dryer sheets and other essentials.
