Regular readers hopefully won’t be startled to find an entirely different mugshot at the top of this page and an entirely different set of musings on the general subject of Jaguar and Jaguar World.

For those who missed the July issue, don’t worry; as you can see from this very issue, the other ‘PW’ is very much still involved and will continue to be. Checking back to Paul’s farewell column last month I see he described me as a ‘Jaguar enthusiast through and through’ which I’ve chosen to take as a compliment. Certainly when one of our eclectic company fleet of project and pool cars can’t be traced, if it’s a Jaguar which has gone missing then the suggestion is inevitably made that it’s ‘probably on Wager’s driveway’.

Speaking of which, I’m currently between Jaguars as I attempt to work out the logistics of regaining custodianship of our long-term X350, a car in which I’ve covered many thousands of miles but which I haven’t seen in the flesh since its repaint was delayed by a global pandemic. As I type this, the plan involves several colleagues in a relay of various vehicles around the country including a Mk1 Golf GTI, a Bentley Turbo R and finally the XJ8.

Despite this however, in the last few weeks I’ve still managed to get behind the wheel of a diverse range of Jaguar products ranging from the last Series 3 XJ to Rob Crisp’s brutally fast XFR-S, with the real surprise of my time as editor so far being Dan Pitt’s lovely man
