Forget BA, Hannibal, Murdock and Faceman – the modern-day A-TEAM are a group of volunteer ambassadors for Trash Free Trails, who are on a vital mission to protect our wild spaces. Made up of riders, runners and roamers from across the world, the A-TEAM host trail cleans for their local communities, represent TFT at events, support the development of new programmes and even help deliver educational sessions to young riders. With more volunteers needed, we caught up with two members to find out about their aims and aspirations.

How did you get involved with TFT?

Five years ago, I was working as an outdoor instructor, racing enduro and spending every minute on a hill, mountain or trail. I spent plenty of time riding with some of the founding members of TFT, and one frosty morning, out of the blue, I got invited up to my local riding spot, Eastridge Woods, to do a short film with TFT and Vodafone. I’m very lucky and get to ride pretty much every day, so by setting a good example and leaving each place I go that bit better than how I found it, I hope others will be inspired to follow suit.

Do you have any pearls of wisdom to share with Heather, as a newcomer?

Never be afraid to ask for help.

You won’t find a better group of people to ask for advice on absolutely anything. As a team, we’ve travelled far and wide, and taken part in most outdoor sports. The talent and experience in the A-TEAM is invaluable.
