Hello,

Today while writing to you I’m desperately trying not to have one eye on Jamie Oliver’s Channel 4 show which is all about taking our humble air fryer to another level.

He’s just dished up fresh salmon with a salsa dressing on its crispy skin, nestled in broccoli, asparagus and – guess what? – a can of tinned potatoes! He tipped them into his second drawer with a little butter. If I had the ingredients, I’d be in the kitchen right now.

Saturday Kitchen is probably my favourite cookery programme, and inspires me to be more a more adventurous cook.

Picnic Tips

The picnic ideas in the magazine this week are great. For me, picnics come in two categories: either you are carrying them to your chosen beauty spot, or the car is your larder and all you do is whip out a folding table, a couple of chairs or just a rug. For this one you can go crazy and make it look amazing. In case the style police are on parade, I use a variety of kilner jars and decant everything into them: cookies, dips, fruit, feta and nuts until it resembles a country pantry. It’s a joy to organise as well as eat!

So lovely so see our travel feature on Greenwich. It’s not far from where I live if I jump on the tube or – better still – one of the river boats run by UBER. We cycle to Battersea Pier, pop our bikes on board, then jump off at Greenwich Pier to enjoy
