WARNING REAL LIFE

Clair, 44, from Cardiff, was thrilled at the chance to earn some extra pocket money – then she realised what she’d have to do to get it...

Feeling my forehead as I lay in bed, Mum sighed. ‘You are abit hot,’ she said. ‘No school for you today.’

Feeling unwell, I just wanted to stay in bed.

But my mum *Sally was a single parent, and she had to go to work as acleaner.

‘You’ll need to come with me,’ she said.

So traipsing off with her to a property in town, I sat on the sofa while she got to work dusting and hoovering. Then a man suddenly popped his head round the door.

It was Mum’s client, Paul Abraham. She cleaned his home as well as properties he owned around town.

‘Morning, Sally,’ he called out, then he spotted me. ‘Who’s this then?’

‘This is my daughter Clair,’ Mum replied. ‘Sorry, she’s off school sick so Ihad to bring her with me.’

‘No worries at all,’ Paul smiled at me.

He seemed like anice man –Mum had worked for him for awhile and he was good to her.

And after that, whenever Paul popped round to give Mum her wages, he’d always smile and ask how Iwas.

‘If you ever fancy abit of work for some extra pocket money, let me know,’ he said.

And I quickly jumped at the chance.

At 12 I already had a paper round, but Iwas always keen to earn my own money. ‘That would be great,’ I smiled at him.

Lunging at me, he kissed me full on the lips

And so he arranged to pick me up the following Sunday afternoon and take me to his family home to do abit of bookkeeping. After awhile upstairs in his office, filing receipts, Paul looked up.

‘Do you want adrink, Clair?’ he asked me.

‘Yes please,’ I said, following him downstairs to the living room.

Sitting on the sofa next to him, he handed me aglass and Isipped quietly, not knowing what to say.

It felt odd –his wife wasn’t home, and the house was quiet.

Then suddenly, Paul leaned towards me.

‘I think you owe me akiss,’ he leered creepily.

Lunging at me, he kissed me full on the lips. Ifreaked out and ran to the bathroom, slamming the door behind me.

IT RUINED MY LIFE

What just happened? I thought in shock.

But then Iheard Paul calling through the locked door.

‘I think it’s time Itook you home,’ he said.

In his car, I sat in stunned silence while he kept chatting about his contacts in the police.

‘Don’t tell your mum about what happened,’ he added as we pulled up outside my house.

I’d got the message –he knew powerful people, and if I said anything he could cause problems for my family.
