‘Looking forward to another year of Platinum’

‘I have read Platinum since the first copy and have subscribed for a while. I recently filled in the survey in the January edition as I enjoy all of the magazine and find the different subjects covered to be informative and interesting; it sometimes takes me some while to read it all as I flip past some pages only to discover them a week later. I am enjoying Joanna Hall’s walking therapy column as I love a good walk, although it’s decidedly wet underfoot at the moment, and our sunken country lanes in Somerset resemble streams after the incessant rain. I always read Jane Moore’s column (great!!) as well as the style, make-up and beauty pages.

‘Last year I had a skin problem, which meant I stopped using any cosmetics or creams, but happily now the problem has resolved although it took more than a year and I am now very careful only to use products that are for suitable sensitive skins. In terms of fashion, I appreciate that the clothing covers a good price range and is not just super expensive items.

‘I regularly make a granola recipe you featured a few years ago, which is so much better than shop bought version,s although I’m not entirely sure it’s cheaper.

‘I am now in my 70s and I keep active with Iyengar yoga, walking, and singing with a local community choir, plus I have regular “granny” days with grandchildren, especially during the school holidays – they keep me on my toes as their ages range from 1-18. I certainly don’t feel my age!

‘I look forward to another year of Platinum, and perhaps there’ll be a meet-up event for readers? That would be a lovely idea!’ Deborah

‘Thanks so much for your email, Deborah. I’m pleased you still enjoy the magazine and get lots of use from it. I’d love to do a meet-up for readerssomewhere at some point this year if it’s do-able and will speak to the publishers about it. And I’m glad your skin problem resolved itself. I occasionally get eczema outbreaks, sometimes on my face, which is very annoying. I can’t use any products with water in and have to go for really thick, greasy ones to take away the itch and dryness: my faves are Balmond’s SkinSalvation and Egyptian Magic if you wanted to check them out, although fingers crossed your skin won’t be a problem for you again. Many thanks and happy new year!’ Katy, Editor-
