NEC draws crowds

Organisers, exhibitors and industry praise event

AROUND 95,000 people came through the doors at February’s Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show.

That is over 12,000 down on the number who attended the event in February 2023, although that figure was a record.

This February’s show still won major compliments. Cristina Dorador, head of marketing at Bailey of Bristol, said, “It’s been a really fantastic show and great to see so many new as well as familiar faces.”

Coachman sales director Ben Parkin said, “The show was very well attended and we are really happy with what we sold. We’ll be back in October with even more vehicles.”

IN BRIEF

North Yorkshire security warning North Yorkshire Police warned in February that it has seen an increase in caravan thefts in the area. It is advising all caravanners to keep vehicles locked at all times, with keys out of sight in the house.

Caravan recovered after 14 years Police in Oxfordshire have recovered a caravan that was stolen 14 years ago. Thames Valley Police’s Rural Crime Taskforce spotted the vehicle while working in the Bampton area. Checks on the NCC’s CRiS database showed it had been stolen near Bicester in 2010.

Caravan retrieved 200 miles away Police in Kent used a drone to recover a caravan that was stolen at the start of February, which was discovered some 200 miles away in Cheshire.

The Elddis Avanté 840 had been taken from a Cheshire farmyard, and local police found that it had entered Kent during the weekend after the theft. A local officer then used a drone to inspect possible locations where it might be, and spotted it at Darenth Wood Road, in Dartford. A man and a woman in their 20s, found inside the vehicle, were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and theft. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.
