As you’ll have seen in our Big Picture last month, Practical Classics and Lancaster Insurance Services are together seeking out Britain’s Favourite Classic Charity. This, then, is your call to arms. Or should that be call to alms? You see, there are charities out there that are huge, have a massive profile, raise lots of money and earn substantial recognition for their work – and fair play to them for doing so, because any organisation that exists with the primary objective of making life better for others is worthy of respect.
But there are also other charities just as worthy. Smaller, community or enthusiast-led organisations who are working just as hard to raise funding for those in need, selflessly, tirelessly and often on a voluntary basis.
We want it to be known from the outset that in our quest to find Britain’s Favourite Classic Charity, we’ll not just be looking at the big names. We’re looking at the causes that mean the most to you – our readers – who are and always have been at the very heart of PC. When we hit the road in our project Reliant Rebel later this year, we’ll be meeting our heroes. People with stories to tell about how their love of classic cars has led to acts of kindness, generosity and altruism, or how they have benefitted from the compassion or kind-heartedness of others. All of us at PC and Lancaster are really looking forward to reading your stories about the people that make up our special community.

Visionary organisation going great guns…
Engaging youngsters in the classic car world is essential for the future of our hobby and StarterMotor is core to that.
Focused on ‘putting the next generation in the driving seat’, StarterMotor was formed in 2017 with a focus on putting young people in old cars – its vision being to introduce them to classics, careers, ownership and the fun that is being part of the old car community.
