Corvette fans get ready!

London isn't the mostclassic-friendly city , but its Olympia venue is a cracking place to have a car show. Which is handy, because that's where the London Classic Car Show will be taking place on February 24-26. The Porsche 911 celebrates its 60th birthday this year, so expect lots of examples to be lined up. Also on show will be the cars launched in 1983 which achieve tax-exempt status this year. Perhaps more importantly, they're also ULEZ-exempt in London. Historics will be holding an auction crammed with mouth-watering classics, while 70 years of the Corvette will also be marked. theclassiccar showuk.com

BANGERS & SMASH

One of Donald's track-ready Triumphs.

For years there's been a 'them and us' attitude between most classic car clubs and banger racers, so we were fascinated to see in Six Appeal, the Triumph 2000/2500/2.5 Register magazine, a feature promoting the exploits of racer Donald Stewart. The Register'sMike Menhenitt told us: ‘The Register is proud to cater for the diversity of all its members. Some compete in historic banger racing and the cars used for these events are beyond even the most ardent and experienced restorer's capabilities. They're stripped of all useful parts – which are then available to members – then prepared for the track. The recycling of parts and keeping the cars away from the scrap merchant is laudable!’ Find out more at triumph2000register.co.uk.

Big PC show back and better than ever

Since the first running of the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show at the NEC back in 2014, this weekend has grown beyond all recognition. What started out as a two-day affair quickly expanded by 50 per cent and even now, getting round everything in three days can be tricky.

This is an event that's very much focused on giving you the skills and confidence to work on your own classic, whether restoring or maintaining it. That's why you'll probably want to spend plenty of time in the Resto Theatre, learning how to lead load, panel beat and polish paint. Many of the clubs attending will also be working on cars, so if you need help with something on your own classic, the chances are that there will be someone present who can help. Need parts or tools? Then check out the autojumble.

If you just want to ogle lots of classics, this is the place to be, with well over 1000 set to be on display. As well as the club stands, the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership zone will showcase cars of all ages, while there will be many more cars to pore over on the dealer stands throughout the event. Maybe you just fancy window shopping or perhaps you have money to spend, in which case the Classic Car Auctions sale is bound to offer something tasty.
