Maestro Y-reg?

The Maestro is 40 this year, and the Maestro and Montego Owners’ club is going all out to mark the occasion. Andrew Stokell got in touch to say: ‘We’re holding Maestro@40 as part of the annual BMC and Leyland Show at the British Motor Museum on July 9. We are very keen to find owners of 1983 Y-reg Maestros, so we would love to hear from any PC readers who can help out. Already we have received over 80 expressions of interest from owners, so this will probably be the largest gathering of the marque.’ You can contact Andrew via maestro40@ maestro.org.uk or facebook. com/groups/ maestroat40.

More Ambassador owners are being encouraged to join.

Enthusiasts to share the load

Clubs struggling to recruit enough committee members is nothing new, so it was great to hear from Simon Hayes at the Leyland Princess Enthusiasts' Club. He said: ‘The club’s President and Vice President recently elected to stand down and open the position to interested parties. Eight of us have grouped together to share the workload; we’re spread all around the country. We now have stands booked at numerous events and we’ve also appointed a spares secretary to look after our parts stock, which will be available through our online shop. The website and Facebook page are also being overhauled so that they’re better online resources for our members, too.' leylandprincess.co.uk

Shut up and drive

Drive-It Day is back and bigger than ever!

Wherever you are in the country, you're spoiled for choice if you want to get out and use your classic on this year's annual Drive-It Day extravaganza. It's taking place on April 23, and some of the runs that are happening include the North Norfolk Classic Vehicle Club's drive from Sheringham to Holkham Hall (nncvc.org.uk), the North Berwick Rotary Club's exploration of the Scottish Borders (northberwick rotaryclub.org) and the Lancashire Automobile Club's 90-mile drive around their home county (lancsautoclub.com). Meanwhile, the Garioch Vehicle Restoration Society (gvrs.net) will be driving to Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire.

Bristol owners are invited to go to the Classic Motor Hub at Bibury (classicmotorhub.com), the 1100 Club is gathering at the Atwell-Wilson Museum in Wiltshire (atwellwilson.org.uk), and the Ulster Vauxhall Opel Classic Community is set to go on a road trip taking in the Antrim coast road and Glenarm Castle (tinyurl.com/yv4b7bcm). Tanya Field will also be running her annual day at the Mini plant in Cowley; all classic cars are welcome (tinyurl. com/mr4chm67).

Hopefully the sun shines on the day!
Will you be taking part?

If you're looking for a destination for your drive out and you're in the southwest of England, you could head to the Festival of Transport at Chepstow Racecourse (facebook.com/berkeley.show),
