‘MG Marshall’ to raise thousands for Help for Heroes

A Greater Manchester-based classic car restorer is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for forces charity Help for Heroes by restoring an MG Midget and raffling it off for the charity. Jody Bevan, who runs MNJ Autocare in Oldham, also has a popular YouTube channel called Auto Lass. The Midget has been donated to her fundraising efforts by one of the channel’s followers and follows on from a Morris Ital that she restored for The Sepsis Trust last year.

The 1975 Midget has been nicknamed ‘Marshall’ due to its military connections and will be restored by Jody over the coming months, in between running her MOT test centre and classic car repair business. She will also be using her YouTube presence to promote women in the automotive industry and support sustainable skills as an ambassador for the Association of Heritage Engineers.

Jody and team prepare for second resto.

The MG will be rebuilt in a military theme before being raffled on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2023. The charity was chosen in memory of Jody’s grandad, Randolph.

‘He served in France and Germany and was a father figure to me,’ she explains. ‘He enjoyed talking about the good times including the BSA motorcycle he rode upfront in military convoys. He was a wonderful man, with a leg full of shrapnel that he loved to show people.’
