PC Show breaks the funk and sets new records

The halls were filled with amazing cars.

The 2023 Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show with Discovery+ has been described as ‘the best ever’. Numbers were up on last year, as 26,822 enthusiasts piled into the NEC with ‘show Friday’, in particular, breaking attendance records. The event, once again, delivered more activity per square foot than any other event in the calendar as over 150 clubs vied to be the most active at the ‘friendly show’.

Over at CCA Cuctions the PC restored Reliant Rebel van sold for £5062, with every penny going to NHS charities. A further £22,000 was raised through the weekend by Sporting Bears Dream Rides, a massive improvement on the £15,000 raised last year. Traders reported good business and the Classic World live stage, MC’d by PC editor Danny Hopkins, was packed throughout the three-day jamboree with celebrities including Mike Brewer, actor Gary Mavers, Ant Anstead, PC ‘old boy’ Fuzz Townshend, Paul Cowland and Steph Holloway enlightening and entertaining the crowds.

Practical Classics had a full team present with six staff cars on display along with Restorer of the Year, Steve Brown’s magnificent Land Rover SIII. The weekend’s live build saw a 1977 Reliant Scimitar SE6A go from a cold dusty barn find to shiny excellence with a living breathing V6 .

The National Car Club awards, which are always held during the weekend, included the 'at show' awards that went to the Racing Puma Club and Ford Corsair Owners Club, along with the Jowett Car Club and the Polish Classic Car Club. The Wolseley Register’s 1939 Wolseley 1
