Jacks of all trades
No home mechanic can do without a decent jack, so this major update to Draper’s range of tools has piqued our interest. There are 11 new trolley jacks in the range, with lift capacities ranging from two to four tonnes. A range of colours is available, but more importantly, each is designed to make the job as convenient and safe as possible. All have a low profile, with the lowest needing just 75mm of clearance.
To prevent damaging the vehicle, there’s a firm rubber pad on the lifting saddle, and a protective foam sheath around the handle. The rear of the jack is supported by swivelling castors rather than fixed wheels, making them easier to manoeuvre into position. The standard range includes 2, 2.25 and 3-tonne jacks, with a twin-piston pump for fast lifting and twin safety valves to prevent it from overloading. The Draper Expert versions come in 3-tonne or 4-tonne variants, and the 3-tonne model benefits from an extra-fast single lift pump that can reach full height in only 2.5 strokes. drapertools.com
Are you having funnel?
This oil and fluid filler is designed for glugging lubricant into those hard-to-reach holes without making messy mistakes. The transparent funnel is 14cm wide, and has a removable filter with an integral breather to prevent airlocks; it comes with an extra-long 36.8cm spout and a 45-degree cranked adaptor, so the pipe can run at an angle while the funnel remains upright. Take a stand
Together with Draper’s new line of jacks (see p16), the brand is also supplying these three-tonne axle stands, available in three snazzy paint finishes: black, green or blue. The saddle has a rubber pad to prevent damaging the vehicle, and its height is adjustable with five settings between 350 and 555mm, secured by a hardened steel locking pin. draper tools.com
