IT’S BEEN a quieter month for naming activity during this period compared to last month. Firstly, preserved by the 125 Group, HST power car 43159 has been repainted into the revised Midland Mainline livery (see page 25) and has regained the Rio Warrior vinyl nameplates it carried while operating for Midland Mainline on the Project Rio services between Manchester and London 20 years ago.

With Locomotive Services Group’s Mk.3 coaching stock rake in use with 87002 Royal Sovereign and DVT 82139 in service on special additional services in connection with moving visitors who had attended the Eurovision Song Contest, the DVT had gained a vinyl My Lovely Horse nameplate on its bodyside.

The name comes from an episode of the classic Channel 4 comedy Father Ted, where the characters entered into a song competition with a song of the same name. It is understood that the vinyl nameplate is only a temporary addition to the DVT.
