TRANSPENNINE EXPRESS unveiled a train wrap on the driving cab ends of Class 185 diesel multiple unit 185111 in advance of International Men’s Day on November 19 to promote the valuable work of men’s suicide prevention charity Andy’s Man Club and raise awareness of men’s mental health.

Andy’s Man Club was founded by Luke Ambler and Elaine Roberts following the death of Elaine’s son, Andrew Roberts, who took his life aged 23 in 2016. The charity now has more than 120 free support groups nationwide, at which men can open up about issues affecting them in a safe, judgement-free, and non-clinical environment.

The clubs are designed to be free from pressure, and there is no obligation for men to speak if they don’t want to, but they are able to listen to the experiences of others.

More than 750 TPE staff members have now completed the British Transport Police and Department for Transport ‘Safeguarding on Rail’ training, while the company has also introduced 500 body-worn cameras for front line staff and promoted 34 safeguarding champions across its network, offering guidance to anyone who may need advice when dealing with a vulnerable person or difficult situation.
