EDITOR‘S LETTER

If the February issue was all about making space to do nothing, then the March issue of Red is your invitation to become reinvigorated – with lots of ideas and inspiration for the season ahead. See it as a way of willing spring into being (or maybe getting ahead of the crowd).

For starters, our style pages, from page 13, introduce the new trends for 2024, and it feels like there’s something for everyone, from brights to pastels, sports to smart. I, for one, have had my head turned by the pared-back aesthetic of our main fashion story, Keep It Simple, on page 68, which champions a monochrome palette and sharp, forever buys such as crisp shirts and cool blazers. Talking of head-turning, I read A Fresh Look on page 92 – our beauty team’s new picks of the season – and found myself coveting every one of their recommendations (who wouldn’t want brighter skin, bouncier roots and a really deep, good night’s sleep?).

I felt equally excited about the interiors updates in Spring Forward on page 110 and am now debating whether to tile an unsuspecting wall or reimagine it with a trompe l’oeil…

But while there’s a frivolity to all this newness, intentions can come in more meaningful forms, too. On page 38, Emily Nagoski gives advice on how to get out of a sex rut; Who’s Richer Than You? on page 50 offers ways to avoid the trap of financial comparisons; on page 144 you’ll find tools to combat your exact form of tiredness (stress? Hunger? Apathy?); and Ella Mills shares healthy lunch recipes on page 148 that are easy enough to commit to eve
