Like many families at this time of year, we are intending to reduce our energy usage, so thank you for your useful article ‘10 Ways to Cut Your Energy Bills’ (October). My teenagers have now agreed to ‘try’ to spend less time on their devices and to also remember to unplug them after use! My daughter has made a lovely draught excluder for our back door, and my husband has even bled the radiators. I have been busy making soups and stews for the freezer, using my slow cooker. Winter, we are ready for you!

FRESH INSPIRATION

A technical fault with self scan at my local store meant taking a step back in time and using a staffed checkout. At the till, I picked up my first copy of Sainsbury’s magazine, thinking I’d get home and have a quick flick through to find a recipe or two. Now, almost every page is dog-eared with recipes I want to try!

GOLDEN DAYS

I recently celebrated my golden wedding anniversary, so have enjoyed providing family meals for 50 years. I have relied on your magazine to keep me up to date with food trends and provide fresh inspiration, and October’s issue did not let me down. We had a very special family celebration and the Middle Eastern recipes from Honey & Co were the perfect combination: easy to prepare and totally delicious. The whole meal was a terrific success.
