HEALTHY-EATING HACKS, TIPS AND ADVICE

BETTER BREAKFASTS

Do you feel groggy in the morning? A new study suggests the secret to alertness could be picking the right breakfast – along with exercising, and sleeping longer and later, if you can. The best breakfast for your brain was found to be high in complex carbohydrates with a modest amount of protein, such as oats, nuts, seeds and fruit with a dollop or two of natural or Greek yogurt.

3 WAYS TO… eat for healthy teeth

1. GO RAW Munch on raw veggies like carrots and celery; the chewing helps to clean teeth surfaces and stimulates saliva, which gets rid of food particles and bacteria. Plus, carrots contain plaque-attacking keratin as well as vitamin A, a key nutrient for healthy gums and tooth enamel.

2. EAT CHEESE Not only will the calcium in cheese boost teeth health, but studies show eating cheese lowers acidity levels in the mouth better than milk or yogurt, helping to protect teeth. If you love Jarlsberg, you’re in luck – it’s rich in the teeth-strengthening vitamin K2.

3. THINK GREEN Carbohydrate foods that are high in starch stick to the teeth, which can provide a source of energy for bacteria, so it’s a good idea to break up starchy meals with teeth-healthy servings of veg.
