Sea Angler Magazine
5 January 2023

In this issue we bring you six adventures in sea angling from around the world; some closer to home than others but all designed to inspire you or transport you, even if it’s for only a few minutes, to a new adventure or fishing trip of a lifetime. Whether you are fortunate enough to be considering taking an overseas trip in 2023 or not, there’s something for everyone, from Scandinavia to South Africa. In addition to overseas trips, I particularly enjoyed reading Scott Belbin’s adventure (page 56) port hopping along the Channel from Essex to Plymouth with his young family aboard his charter boat. Also in this issue you’ll find our new series ‘Tide Talk’ (page 98) looking at the best tides and tactics to target species in the month ahead. With an easy to use at-a-glance tide format we’ll be giving you the best chance of catch success for different species each month. If you want to know why tides are so influential to your fishing success then make sure you read Mike’s feature (page 6) on the 'solunar theory' which uses the sun, moon and tides to predict peak times of animal activity and behaviour. Ask any experienced angler, though, and they’ll tell you that tides have a definite impact on fi shing so understanding the theory and lunar cycle is an essential skill for any serious sea angler. Read the feature and make your own mind up.
