Chakra balance is all about bringing the vibration of your energy centres back to their original frequency, so you can deal with both the energies within your body and those around you. Thimela Garcia, founder of Chakra Mama Healing, shares how to reharmonise your chakras

1 VISUALISATION MEDITATION

During meditation, concentrate on each of the chakras in turn, starting with the root chakra at the base of the spine and working your way up to the crown chakra at the top of the head to help improve the flow of positive energy. By imagining the flow of energy from chakra to chakra and their colours, you’re helping remove blockages in each energy centre that may be causing discomfort.

2 REPEAT BIJA MANTRAS

Each chakra has its own bija (seed) mantra which, when chanted repeatedly and with intent, clears emotional blockages. In yogic tradition, these are LAM (root), VAM (sacral), RAM (solar plexus), YAM (heart), HAM (throat), OM (third eye), and OM or silence (crown).

3 HONE YOUR YOGA ASANAS

Each chakra has a series of yoga poses that help to balance it. Moving through the specific postures, starting with tree pose and ending with corpse pose, will help release stiffness, tension and blocks in your body, allowing a good energy flow and helping the chakras to balance themselves out.

4 PRANAYAMA BREATHING

Pranayama breathing helps to control the energy flow within your body. By using different breathing exercises, you can connect with each chakra to help release unwanted tension and realign your energy. A very effective pranayama to balance the chakras is the alternate nostril breathing exercise which provides instant calm.

5 MEDITATE WITH CRYSTALS

Quartz crystals have the highest emanation of high-vibrational frequencies, and this is why we use them as healing crystals to help balance the chakras. Use quartz crystals as a meditation aid to further your practice.

6 REIKI HEALING

Reiki is an effective healing method that aligns your chakras to release energy blockages within them. When we’re able to dissolve those blockages, we are allowing energy to flow freely in the body. After a reiki session you should feel grounded, more heart-centred, uplifted, liberated from repressed feelings, relaxed, empowered and loved.

7 REPEAT AN AFFIRMATION

When saying a particular chakra-healing affirmation, we are tapping into the chakra in question and sending the positive energy of the affirmation directly to that chakra, which will be stimulated and release any energies not in alignment with it.
