We have reviewed an electric Weber bbq recently and, while many gas and charcoal fans will pooh-pooh such devices, they have significant benefits – charcoal’s messy and stays hot for ages, while gas connections can be fiddly. With electric, you plug in and go – you will need a convenient electric socket, though.

This particular version, the Morsø Balcone, is a very stylish offering, and is currently on its website for £269 (normal retail price £429). That’s still our most expensive offering, but it’s a good balance between quality and weight (9kg), with an aluminium casing and cast-iron grill.

The dimensions are 17.6cm by 45.1cm by 27cm and the grill is 30cm by 20cm if you want to work out how many sausages it will take. That power cable, delivering 1,800W, is only 1.5m long.
