That Old Chestnut

Sometimes the classics are unbeatable. I was reminded the other day that Badedas is one of the finest bubble baths around – I just love the fresh smell and the mysterious powers of horse chestnut extract, and the way it makes the water green with masses of bubbles. But most of all, I like the memories it brings back of growing up in a house that always had a bottle of this in the bathroom. Bliss!

Mechanical Magic

In my first “Bright Side”, I wrote about the House of Automata, a wondrous workshop in Forres, Scotland, where Michael and Maria Start and son Hector bring automata back to life. Now Michael has written a book on the subject, and I can’t wait to get stuck in to find out more about the secrets lurking inside mechanical marvels. Perfect for anyone who’s ever exclaimed “But HOW?!” while watching an automaton in action!

Time For A Brew

A recent discovery for me – but one that’s already earned a permanent spot in my drinks cabinet – is this excellent cold brew coffee liqueur made by Avva. It’s fantastic enjoyed neat, but you can also use it in cocktails or pour it over ice-cream – both of which I’ve tried, and both of which were a triumph!
