Laura Brown shares a few of her favourite things . . .

Puffed Up

This year will be my first – all being well during the germination phase – growing love-in-a-puff, or Cardiospermum halicacabum, to give it its Sunday name.

Isn’t it just magnificent?

Those lovely lime-green balloon-shaped seed pods would be exciting enough, but inside each one there’s also a black seed adorned with a white heart – hence its delightful nickname.

Nature is just amazing!

Priced at £3.95 for a packet of 100 seeds from sarahraven.com.

Chop Chop

This set of kitchen scales doubles as a chopping board, and it’s such a handy gadget to have around.

Weigh out butter for baking before cubing it on the spot, or slice up the right amount of veg without having to create more washing-up.

I’ve had one of these for years, and have only had to replace it once after an incident involving a sink of hot water and an absent mind!

Don’t be like me. A wipe of the weighing and chopping surface is OK!

Priced at £29.99 from salter.com.

Smol Change

I love a subscription service, because then I have one less thing to remember to buy in the supermarket.

I’ve been using Smol for a long while now, and I’m really impressed with their products.

I get regular deliveries of washing-up liquid, detergent capsules and multi-purpose surface spray, and they’re all fantastic and better for the environment, too.

They arrive on time, and if I need something sooner, it’s easy to bring a delivery forward.
