You Will Need

Your choice of pebble(s)

Light Pink, Dark Pink, Brown, Gold, Light Blue and Green acrylic paints (for the large house)

Orange, Light Turquoise, Dark Turquoise and Gold acrylic paints (for the small houses)

White paint or Posca or permanent pen

Liquid or spray varnish

Tools

Chalk or pencil

Protective cover (plastic cloth or similar)

Paint brushes

Designer’s Tips

Texture and shape are the two most important features to keep in mind when you are rock hunting or shopping.

You will be painting or drawing over your rock, so finding one with a smooth surface is key. A rough texture or bumps will make it difficult to create fine lines, small details and sharp outlines.

You also want to look out for the shape: does it match with your idea of what you want to paint on it? How can you translate your design on to the surface of your rock?

Note: Follow manufacturer’s instructions when using paint and varnish.

1. Wash and dry a standing, roundish pebble.

2. Prepare your work surface by covering with a protective cover.

3. Using the photograph as a guide, use a pencil or chalk to outline the roof, door and three windows.
