What time of day do you like to cross stitch?

I usually get in from driving my truck, sort out my budgies then relax after tea and cross stitch. Currently I don’t have anyone else to stitch with, so the television is on in the background.

Your fave WOXS stitch?

I loved the ‘Trust the magic of new beginnings’ cushion from issue 341 (Jan 2024).

It’s a positive way to look at something if, like me, you’re going through a tough time, and it spoke to me.

What’s your best stitching tip?

Never to rush, always take your time. Since I started early menopause, I’ve struggled a lot and because my concentration isn’t what it used to be, I needed help. Usually I stitch on plain aida, so to help with this, I’ve started to grid my aida with washable pens to not lose track of where I am.

Do you have stitching buddies?

I’ve attended the Châtelaine Stitchers Retreat twice now. That was an enjoyable experience, being able to meet other friendly stitchers.

What has been your favourite cross stitch project?

My favourite project has to be my ‘Butterfly Lace Mandala’ by Châtelaine Design. It was my first time stitching speciality stitches and using beads and silk threads.

WOXS design you love?

My favourite design from the last few issues is the ‘Over the moon’ project from issue 345 (May 2024) by Maria Diaz. My daughter loves astrology, so this is a must-stitch for her bedroom.

What do you get from cross stitching?

The joy of a finish but also the mindfulness of picking a project up and getting lost in the stitching.
