Vegan Life Magazine
19 March 2020

Welcome to the new issue. In the last few weeks we’ve been enjoying travelling to work in daylight and leaving with at least a few minutes left before night creeps in (rather than being plunged into darkness at 4pm). Yes, it seems like spring is finally on its way. Spring is synonymous with new life, but for the many animals suffering for Easter confectionary and Sunday meals, it’s a bleak time of year. It can be a difficult period for vegans to negotiate, as suffering is being advertised left, right and centre. If you find this a tough holiday, we implore you to apply the same tactics as you did at Christmas — buy vegan Easter eggs for your loved ones (I’ll have a Booja Booja if anyone who loves me is reading), cook up a delicious seitan joint for Easter Sunday and serve with the fluffiest vegan Yorkshire puddings imaginable (p101). Be patient with family members who don’t share your point of view, but also use it as an opportunity to start discussions about the issues you care about. As ever, this issue is packed with inspiring vegans doing wonderful things for the animals and the planet. We meet the talented, plant-powered singer Gabrielle Aplin (p18), Maria Slough heads to Forest Green Rovers, the world’s first vegan football club (p56) and we catch up with the sisters behind vegan fashion brand Delikate Rayne (p88). Have a great month, Phillipa Smith Editor
