Welcome to October! A month filled with goldening leaves and darkening nights, toffee apples, scary movies and pumpkin-spiced just-about-everything. Whether you are a fan of celebrating Halloween traditions or not, you’ve got to admit — it’s a wonderful opportunity to stuff ourselves full of sweets and chocolate! Our recipe and product pages this month are filled with frighteningly tasty sweet and savoury Halloween-themed dishes, drinks and treats — even sceptics will find it hard not to keep a smile on their face come 31st October. Something else that divides the opinions of many, is winter, and with the days and nights getting colder, the season is almost upon us. Winter means the return of crisp mornings, hot cocoa, open fires, hot and hearty pies (take a look at our recipe pages!) and fluffy socks, but it also means a higher frequency of colds and flu. Love it or hate it, winter can prove a challenging time for some people, but there are lots of things that you can do to give your immune system a boost and stay in tip-top health. Take a read of our special feature this month, where we look at what you can eat and do to stay happy and healthy. When it comes to eating for health, there is no one more qualified to advise than plant-based dietitian, Yvonne O’Halloran. While Yvonne has graced the Vegan Life nutrition pages for years, we haven’t looked at the person behind the advice before — it’s high time that was changed. This issue, we catch up with the Australia-based working mum of three, to find out a little bit more about what inspired her to help people through the power of healthy vegan food. Also, this month, Chelsea Plaskitt uncovers the top six techniques to try for reducing anxiety; Maria Slough talks to Rosanna Davison, previous Miss World winner and passionate vegan mother; and Sean O’Callaghan gets married in a fabulously vegan fashion. Have a happy October!
