In this issue, we are covering stuff from pre-war years up to the 1980s – and before you question that, just remember that’s over 30 years ago. Most of the lorries and their operators in Roger Pickering’s pictures on the M54 are now only memories. This issue’s ‘Scenes Past’ takes another look at six-wheelers, with pictures of a range of different vehicles, including some special types, on which a third axle has increased the payload. Tippers have long been an application where six wheels have been a popular option.
