Weapons that won WWII Magazine

Seventy years after the Second World War the Mirror has reached into the archives to bring together a unique collection of images from the front line and at home. Some of the pictures, many only recently uncovered in our regional archives, have been put together for the book Weapons That Won WWII, as a tribute and testimony to the machinery of that time, and the brave men and women who used them to such great effect. Those weapons included aircraft such as the Spitfire, U-Boat destroyers, the development of ‘RADAR’ to detect the position of enemy aircraft before you could see or hear them and powerful new anti-aircraft artillery to shoot the enemy down. Saluting the innovation, style, engineering and invention of those working to protect the country from invasion, The Weapons That Won WWII showcases the tools and adventurous spirit that ultimately lead us to victory.
