Caffeine in your high-street coffee

Love to grab a Starbucks coffee on a road trip, or do you prefer to pop into Costa for your weekly treat? Your preference may have something to do with how much caffeine is in your cup, as new research** shows this can vary wildly between chains. In order from most to least: a cappuccino from Costa contains 325mg of caffeine; the equivalent from Greggs contains 197mg; a cup from Pret A Manger contains 180mg; the same from Caffè Nero contains 110-115mg; and a Starbucks cappuccino contains 66mg. For context, a typical tea bag contains 75mg, and 400mg is regarded as a safe daily limit (200mg for pregnant women). Now you know, next time you’re on the high street you might make a different choice!

Scatterbrain

Do you ever find yourself in a room of your home with no idea why you’re there? Or does your mind go blank over someone’s name when you bump into them unexpectedly? Well, you’re not alone. Over a third of people say they experience ‘brain fog’ on a regular basis, and almost two-thirds say that they lose their train of thought up to 10 times a day, according to a recent study by FutureYou Cambridge.
