10 ways to

1 Buff with a foot file

Remove stubborn skin on your feet with the help of a file. Use So Eco Wooden Foot File, £7.50, Holland & Barrett, as the first stage in your DIY pedicure process, to get rid of the hard skin around your heels and balls of your feet. Work until soft skin is revealed.

2 Soak with softening salts

Next comes the most important stage – soaking. Fill a bowl with warm water and sprinkle in a handful of Westlab Recover Epsom Bath Salts with Eucalyptus, £6.79, Boots. The Epsom salts exfoliate and the antibacterial eucalyptus oil will keep feet fresh.

Soak your feet for up to 20 minutes and then dry with a towel.

3 Treat feet overnight

Smother feet in Revolution Salicylic Smoothing Heel & Foot Balm, £6, revolutionbeauty.com. Do this before bed and then pop on some socks to help the cream really sink in. The hard-working yet gentle salicylic acid will buff away dead skin to reveal a fresh and supple layer when you wake up. Use weekly or twice a week if you have very dry skin. The formula is fragrance-free so suitable for all, plus vegan and cruelty-free too.

4 Scrub skin

If you’re still struggling with rough feet, then a scrub is your best friend. Use a couple of times a week and work into limbs in a circular motion, taking the product down to your ankles and feet.

The Ritual of Sakura Renewing Body Scrub, £17, rituals.com, is formulated with cherry exfoliant and Japanese oils to replenish lost moisture.

5 Intensive treatment

Invest in the dramatically effective BeautyPro Foot & Callus Peel Mask, £7.95, Superdrug.

Slip your feet into these clever booties for 90 minutes and allow the potent AHA acids to work their magic on calluses and rough skin. After the treatment, the skin gradually begins to peel away to reveal baby-like skin. Use before a big event, just make sure you leave time for the shedding!

6 Nourishing oil

A luxurious foot oil will keep feet looking their best. Mar
