Viewers have picked up on a hostile atmosphere between hosting duos Holly and Phil, and Alison and Dermot
The cast of This Morning always appear as one big happy family on screen, but is it a different story behind closed doors? Lately, there’s been talk of Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary replacing veterans Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on a permanent basis – which may have the latter feeling worried.
Rumours of a feud began when Phil skipped Alison’s recent 48th birthday bash. Phil said he missed the party – which the rest of his This Morning co-stars attended – because it clashed with his daughter Ruby’s birthday. But fans are convinced something deeper is going on.
Alison recently hosted backstage at the BAFTAs and was flooded with comments of praise on Instagram from her co-stars, including Vanessa Feltz, Josie Gibson and Dermot. But, perhaps tellingly, neither Holly or Phil appeared to comment on any of her posts.
And when Alison returned to This Morning the following Monday, one fan picked up on some tension, saying, ‘Holly and Phil are not happy for Alison at all, the two of them look like they hate her.’
They later added, ‘Holly and Phil still trying to pretend they like Alison. It’s obvious they resent her because she’s more popular than them both.’
Prime-time role
There’s no denying that Alison is a rising star in the TV world. As well as her This Morning slot and recent BAFTA gig, she’s recently been announced as the new host for The Great British Bake Off.
Phil and Holly have hosted This Morning for 14 years, but it seems that viewers could be tiring of the pair, while Alison and Dermot’s popularity looks to be on the up.
