JAMES CORDEN

Spill or fill your guts

One of the show’s popular games saw James and his guests answer awkward questions or be forced to dine on disgusting dishes. Viewers were left open-mouthed when a whole host of A-listers divulged their darkest secrets, from Katy Perry listing her lovers to Ewan McGregor admitting a messy accident. But when the questions proved too tricky, stars – including Kim Kardashian, Halle Berry and Gordon Ramsay – were forced to chow down on everything from beetles to bird saliva!

Speaking from the heart

Along with the hilarity, the show will also be remembered for James’ heartfelt messages following terror attacks back home in the UK. In March 2017 the Westminster attack left James admitting he felt ‘a really long long way from home’. Later that year he choked back tears paying tribute to the 22 victims who lost their lives when a bomb was detonated after an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. He described the city’s people as ‘strong, proud and caring, with community at [their] core’.

Cruising through the sky

After mocking Tom Cruise for taking on his own stunts in the latest Mission Impossible movie, James was challenged by the action star to do a skydive. After training and trying to cancel (quite a few times) James took up the task. Before jumping from the plane, the novice joked, ‘If we both die, I will get zero press,’ while Hollywood heavyweight Tom beamed, cool as a cucumber.

Drop the mic

Dame Helen Mirren swapped Shakespeare for spitting sick beats when she annihilated James in a rap battle. Drop the Mic saw guests take on the host, but it was the Oscar-winner’s appearance that will be remembered most. From poking fun at his weight to calling his show trash, her epic mic-drop moment came when she declared, ‘I’m done with this crap. You’re welcome to this headline: “Helen Mirren Can Rap.”’
