As she gears up for the BGT live shows, Amanda Holden talks beauty, family life and work goals

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

She’s been on the judging panel since its inception and these days it wouldn’t be a Britain’s Got Talent live show without a daring outfit from Amanda Holden. And as the 52-year-old sits down with Woman to talk about her new skincare range, she admits that comments about her outfits have become something of a tradition each year. ‘We never do it deliberately but it always seems to happen anyway,’ she shrugs, adding, ‘It’s all fun though. I just want to wear exactly what I want to wear. This year, I’ll be featuring latex!’

As down to earth in person as she comes across on our screens, Amanda seems to thoroughly be enjoying her 50s. ‘I’m loving it!’ she admits, adding, ‘I genuinely think that age doesn’t mean anything any more.’

The star is also happy to chat about her family life, marriage and raising her two girls – Lexi, 17, and Hollie, 11 – who she shares with her husband of 14 years, Chris Hughes. As ambitious as ever, she’s not afraid to tell us what her next career goal will be – and all we can say is watch out prime-time TV presenters, because Amanda is keen for a slice of the pie…

Britain’s Got Talent is underway – what are you most excited for?

It’s another knockout series and I feel like we’ve got a rollercoaster ahead of us. There’s one act in particular that I think is going to win it. So I’m looking forward to that! I’d also love a choir to win, as I think King Charles would enjoy that.

Does Simon Cowell surprise you these days with the things he likes?

Yes! I think it’s since having Eric. He never would have let me talk about my bowels, which obviously I frequently do, so for him to now be putting through farting acts is different! I don’t like him being soft, but I don’t mind him being more of a laugh!

Bruno Tonioli seems to have settled in well too?

I think he’s been underestimated. He plays the clown but actually he’s an incredibly bright man who probably knows more about everything that we’re watching than all of us put together. He’s had a lot of experience, speaks loads of languages, is well read – you just go ‘wow’.

Do you feel pressure to look a certain way in the public eye?

No. My mum and my nan always wore make-up. I could have been in any job and would have had a full face of make-up and my hair done. I’ve always cared about my appearance because of my own dignity. So I don’t care what anyone thinks.

You’ve launched a new skincare line – can you tell us about that?
