For a natural cleanser, use ripe papaya. ‘It has rejuvenating enzymes that exfoliate and cleanse the skin,’ says beauty expert Rosie Khandwala (sugarcoatedhairremoval.com). ‘It also removes dead skin cells to get rid of clogged pores, prevents acne and gives your skin a glow. Mash the papaya flesh into a paste , apply it on your face, then rinse off with warm water.’

Chamomile is known for calming the mind, but did you know it calms irritated skin too. Simply steep a tea bag in 200ml hot water, allow to cool, then mix the tea with 1tbsp of witch hazel. Dab onto your skin with cotton wool to tone and refresh your skin.

For shiny locks

Hard water can cause hair to become dull and lifeless, says Kieran Tudor from wearecentred.com. He recommends a monthly apple cider vinegar rinse. ‘This helps remove mineral and product build-up from hard water for shiny, healthy hair,’ says Kieran. ‘Mix three cups of water and 1tbsp of apple cider vinegar. Work through wet hair, wait five minutes and rinse thoroughly. Follow with shampoo and conditioner.’

Smell lovely for longer

Dab a little Vaseline on the areas where you apply perfume, and your scent will stick fast and last all day.

To reduce pigmentation, try this face mask suggested by Dr MediSpa. Mix 1tbsp chickpea flour, ½tsp turmeric, ½tsp honey and 1tsp yogurt to make a spreadable paste. Chill for 45 minutes, then apply. Leave for an hour and remove with warm water. Beware, turmeric stains so use an old flannel!
