Get out of that hair rut with an updated new look

Switch up your parting
Moving a centre parting to the side like Rochelle Humes’ can add volume and frames your face differently. Denman’s Pin Tail Comb, £5.99, Superdrug, will make a straight line, then sweep the hair over. A mist of TRESemmé Freeze Hold Hair Spray, £3.99, Boots, will then lock in the style.
Get decorative
Use accessories, like Helen Mirren. ‘Add volume and texture with Monday Original Dry Shampoo with Keratin, £3.50, Boots, then add a headband or slides,’ says celebrity hairstylist Neil Moodie. We love this headband, £35, Monsoon.
Try a pony
A high ponytail can look pretty and polished. ‘The higher you go, the more impact you create,’ says Chris Appleton, hairstylist to J.Lo (right). ‘Douse hair in a product like Color Wow Cult Favorite Firm + Flexible Hairspray, £24, lookfantastic.com, to give lots of control over the shape – you must make sure there are no bumps. Finally, take a little section of hair, douse it with spray and wrap it around to hide the elastic. Tiny details make a big difference!’
Grow it out
A cropped haircut can be less hassle first thing in the morning, but for a return to longer locks like Tess Daly’s, bear with the growing-out process. If issues like menopause or stress are affecting your hair growth, try a supplement such as Viviscal Hair Growth Supplement, £29.99 for 30 tablets, Holland & Barrett, which is packed with proteins and minerals.
Go natural
If hair dries naturally it will look fuller and healthier. If it has a natural curl like Salma Hayek’s, braid it into tight plaits while damp, leave for a few hours (or overnight), then let loose for mermaid waves. Add a few drops of Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Moisture Boost Hair Polisher Serum, £6.99, sephora.co.uk, to tame flyaways.
So sleek
